Camden Men's Shed History

Camden Men's Shed was established on 19th August 2008 following agreement of the Camden BEP Committee to form a group of willing volunteers to undertake maintenance, development & repair of the assets & facilities are the Camden Bicentennial Equestrian Park.

The driving vision behind forming the Camden Men's Shed was to :

  • Set up and maintain a friendly, accessible and meaningful adult male social space.
  • Link local men of various ages and cultural backgrounds together in order for them to learn about and appreciate each others experiences, values and requirements.
  • Encourage members to better look after their health needs.
  • Provide opportunities for members to share and learn knowledge and skills between themselves.
  • Build skills and confidence by providing a broad range of activities.
  • Encourage members to be active community players and work constructively with others in the ongoing voluntary maintenance and development of the Park.

The 4 founding members members were Stephen Butler, Colin Calver, Alan Withers and Peter Standen. In 2020 two of these founding members are still active.
